WEEK-END TREK TO BHONGIR FORT

It was Sunday morning when we came up with an idea to see Bhongir fort, around 85km from my doorstep(courtesy google map).Well just to provide you detail that this trip was abandoned 2 weeks back because we ended up going no where after driving around 50kms as our GPS was showing shortest route via ORR but in actual that road was incomplete.(finally realising how bad is trusting too much in technology )

FOOT OF THE FORT

We drove past Hyderabad and headed straight towards a small town named Bhongir and after 1.5 Hrs drive we were at the foot of the fort.We reached entrance and ticket costing Rs 3 which made me surprise and at once uttered these words "teen rupaye mein to chai bhi nhi milti ab".Once we entered, there was a steep climb of giant rock unlike any fort which have rock stairs.

We kept climbing past splendid gates though broken and torn but still able to convey the tales of their majestic time.

STAIRS TO THE FORT

ABANDONED CANNON ON ROOF TOP

Well i had been to many forts in my life time i.e. Red fort,Orchha fort,Jhansi fort,Bundi fort,Golconda fort and many more  in Bundelkhand region(thanks to my handball national camp held near Khajuraho)not very known for tourist, they all were huge giants in magnitude but this one was quite different. It wasn't that big but spread in little different fashion.Rocks were too steep, and rain water had carved them in perfect round shape and they were setting a completely different landscape. As the time we were climbing weather was too good,a kind i say "Killing weather", thick clouds over our head and cold breeze not letting us feel tired or dehydrated.

FORT IN RUIN

We were giving sufficient time to not miss anything in route or any details.Saw abandoned cannon on roof top of many small built. We climbed on almost all of them and enjoyed vistas around,we could see dense greenery, herd of ships grazing, other mountains in neighbourhood and mesmerising scenery.

WINDOW TO OUTSIDE WORLD

JUST ONE VIEW

MAJESTIC PILLARS

We resumed our climb and finally reached on top where found the ruins of once remain gigantic fort.Wide pillars and various art on walls, claustrophobic stairs designed in perfect 90 degree angle, cannon lying on roof top tells story of there time.Gust of wind smashing the walls violently on that height but walls of that fort fighting bravely like their ruler did. There was a complete silence only sound that can be heard is sound of wind.As i was looking around,my mind was thinking more and more about how and what changed this beautiful giant into remains of rocks and many more questions will remain unanswered forever.

ARTS ON WALL

VIEW OF THE LAND FROM FORT
FAREWELL TIME

With heavy heart we started descending...........and then drive back for Hyderabad.......then suddenly we saw the construction going on ORR and seeing my curious face my partner said "hey we should visit Bhongir fort more frequently once this road gets complete, probably then we can trust technology completely without loosing our trail" and with laughter we headed back to sweet home................

JOURNEY BACK TO ROOT-MY TRAIN TRAVEL

It was 10:20 pm when i reached Secunderabad railway station. As i got down from cab and started my way to platform #3,only one sentence came out of my throat "ohh i can feel now population of India is over 100 million".My husband re framed my words with his wit "you mean you have started feeling suffocation now" and with laughter i said yes.

To give some details,it was my train journey after travelling in flight for long time.Well idea was mine to take train as i believed it's going to refresh our golden memory of old time.Four years ago i was an intern doing my training at outskirt of Hyderabad earning Rs15712 per month, travelling to same secunderabad railways station for one hour roller coaster ride through deadly crowded city in Lalpari(then i had named APSRTC red bus) #279 happily, landing to station with full luggage on my shoulder(i never hire kuli-mission saving my bucks ;) ) and making my way to almost equally crowded railway station, travelling in sleeper class.Never having a slightest complain about anything and never thought myself any less than Bill gates ;).Now i am earning towards the upper end in 5 digit chart, but that feeling of being at par with Bill gates have gone.

Train was already on platform so we entered into our compartment, all seats full so we sat down on our respective reserved seats, feeling completely claustrophobic and too shy to eat our packed meal in that crowd. Then train started rolling, relatives started running on platform to get last glimpse of the person they have come to send off.Cloud of laughter, tears and many feelings charged the whole environment.

Once we have settled i started observing people around us.There were a couple in front two seat with their 1 year old baby, one elderly uncle, one middle aged man,one more couple at side berth with around 8 years old son and we two.Slowly that one year girl was centre of attraction for all of us,we are laughing with her laughter and trying to make her smile when she is crying.Every action of her is story for us.Now that elderly uncle playing roll of grand father and teaching that girl about how dog and cat makes sound, that small boy was playing with small girl and amid conversation trying to remember names of ocean and continents he had studied in his text book(what kids at that age boast on-as i did in my time, never leaving a single chance to show my knowledge and talent ;) ).So 8 unknown people become a family know.Suddenly train attendant, rough in look appeared to give us bedsheets, towel and blanket and his Bihari accent he was offering "lijiyena, aaphike liye hai" what made my silence turned into laughter. It actually brings one question to me,in flight when last time i have heard local accent in English?Where air hostess in perfectly manicured look talk in polished language, which more sound like prerecorded tape than talk from heart.

After an hour of this show everyone retired for sleep but my mind took me to the journey of past. For more than 5 years(year 2003-2008) i had constantly travelled in train, mostly alone, being awake in night to see beauty of trees and mountain in dark, sometimes putting hands outside window to catch some rain, being early bird to watch my train going through mountains covered with clouds, sometimes seeing peacock dancing in those jungle, sometimes flock of dear grazing there and many more.I remeber stories of Agrawal aunty from kanpur,Dhillon uncle and his medicle shop, bubbli didi  and her college stories and almost all companion i had met in train but even after stressing my mind i could not remember name or face of one single person i have met in my flight travel, then suddently I realised Indian railways is something lives in our root,we can never escape from it,it keeps us grounded and runs in Indian blood so now again i am back to same person enjoying my travel no matter where and what situation i am in,never complaining and again not thinking myself any less than Bill Gates. This was my lesson in this travel.
Be part of my journey....Read my blog.

ONE UNFORGETTABLE EVENING AT KOVALAM BEACH

STATUE OF MOTHER MARRY AMID BACKWATER NEAR POOVAR ISLAND

It was beginning of July and starting of mansoon in Kerala which is an off season from  tourism point of view.It was pouring all around but making this place perfect destination of our taste.Kovalam beach was last stop for this trip before boarding flight from Kochi. We were at perfact vagabond spirit and in full mood to make this place perfect postcard for the trip.Right after unpacking we started exploring the nearby places to visit, and we found one seems promising to us-The Backwaters.

WATER APPEARING LIKE MILK

A FISHERMAN IN HIS DAILY DUTY

This was our first morning at kovalam and we decided to venture out nearby boulders,so that will be a good exercise for body and mind and ocean view will be feast for eyes.Ride to boulders started right after small private beach of our resort. We saw fisherman in solo and in groups either dealing with turbulance of waves in occean or climbed on rocks and bargaining there luck for catching fishes for the day.

A PANORAMA SWEEP TO CAPTURE THE UNION OF WATER AND LAND

LIGHTHOUSE-A PERFACT VANTAGE POINT

Right behind we could see an old lighthouse, which was making us curious to climb there and enjoy the vistas in wider angle. But we choose to stay down and planed for exploring light house in the evening.

HOW WAVES FORM PICTURES

On the way we were just stopping at places which were soothing our eyes with various forms waves were creating.Well i had been to many island and beaches but trust me i have never encountered such a giant waves ever,so these rising giants kept me completely captivated in their show.

SUNSHINE

This was past noon.Times were changing and so are views,It was same occean and same sun but everything appearing as all different at this time.

TRY TO EXPLORE ON MY BOULDERING HABIT EVEN NEAR OCCEAN

Past noon we restarted our bouldering trip after lunch. One thing i want to mention here, closer you go into occean more and more awe you will feel. You can see life of  small creatures proudly living there. How badly those big waves are smashing on boulders and creating different art form on those rocks.Just sit down at one rock and hear the sound of those waves coming and going in their mood when every other thing maintains perfect silent.

BIRD EYE VIEW OF KOVALAM BEACH

At around 5pm we reached foot of the lighthouse and started climbing those claustophobic stairs those were indeed very interesting to me and reached top of the lighthouse and felt that was a perfact vantage point for everything around. We could see how those giant waves are starting from disant point and dieing near shore. We could see a mosque at a distance from where voice of Azan is coming. We could see how much dense greenery we are actually sorrounded with.

VIEW FROM LIGHT HOUSE

CLOSER VIEW

A MARVELOUS SUNSET

Evening time we  kept completely for spending on kovalam beach, just watching sun and its relection on water.Giant waves sweeping everything around and shining brilliantly with perfectly setting sun.Completely synchronised and breathtaking of course. That time was very special in many ways as it was last day of my Kerala trip, kind of farewell time.To me saying "Good Bye" is always difficult.Everytime when i am at last day of my trip,my affinity to prolong my stay rises to alarming level.Same thing was happening this time also even in higher magnitude.Somehow i kpt myself composed(probably beacuse of fear for flight ticket cancellation). With next day flight we were reaching back to work.As i already know that holiday hangover last more than the actual holiday.

A TRIAL TO CAPTURE BEAUTY OF WAVES AT SUNSET TIME

BACKWATER RIDE

This was our first ride in backwater to take us to Golden sand beach, slow ride through water canals ith sweeping trees, air filled with fragrance of Coconut and Nilgiri and temperature perfact cold to set the mood.

ME AT GOLDEN SAND BEACH

At noon we made slot for tavelling to Golden Sand beach via backwaters.Name stands  perfact to represent the venue, sand was perfect yellow glowing in sun.It was the place from where backwaters starts. We kept challenging our fear to go more and  more deep inside water. It was deadly but super thrilling for me.

RIDE TO ADVENTURE LAND

While coming back from Golden sand beach via backwaters we were enjoying the ride and complementing scenery, our journey took twist. Our boat driver took a totally unknown or better say less known route and told us it will be much more adventurous and and difficult ride.We nodded in affirmative and welcomed the new exploration trip.It took almost double time than what it took while coming but trust me it was worth going.Complete lonely canals and trees grown so low it was brushing all three of us.Our driver kept giving us details of plantation and irrigation stuff for which i was very curious about. He kept making way through those unknown channels and finally we got glimps of the place from where we have started. That ride was my best boat ride ever. Its been two and half months from that trip but I still remember the thrill almost everyday.

SUNSET-THE TIME I WAIT FOR WHOLE DAY

SUNSET FROM MY GALLERY

This is the typical sunset what i admire for hours daily, though sometimes i ponder into my thoughts that what connection do i have with sunset,i watch it almost daily but why its so new to me everytime, why i never realise how much time i have spent watching this splendid show of nature, and many more why...............

BEGINING OF THE SHOW

This is the view taken from my front door, seeing redness of sky, colours changing in different shades every moment, creating many pictures in sky, those mountains around my house become more lively at this time.

RED FLARE OF DAZZLING SUN

JUST AFTER SUN HAS HIDE BEHIND HORIZON

MAGICAL EVENING

SEEING RELECTION OF SUNSET ON WATER IS FEAST TO MY EYES.

This lake is very close to the place i live in and this is the place where i love to seat for hours and just watch the changing beauty of this time.i dont want to miss a single transition.Sometime i see fisherman coming back to shore after their daily routine. It seems as a different world altogether.......

FAREWELL TIME

ITS ME, BREATHING LAST RAY OF THE DAY
