WEEK-END TREK TO BHONGIR FORT

It was Sunday morning when we came up with an idea to see Bhongir fort, around 85km from my doorstep(courtesy google map).Well just to provide you detail that this trip was abandoned 2 weeks back because we ended up going no where after driving around 50kms as our GPS was showing shortest route via ORR but in actual that road was incomplete.(finally realising how bad is trusting too much in technology )

FOOT OF THE FORT

We drove past Hyderabad and headed straight towards a small town named Bhongir and after 1.5 Hrs drive we were at the foot of the fort.We reached entrance and ticket costing Rs 3 which made me surprise and at once uttered these words "teen rupaye mein to chai bhi nhi milti ab".Once we entered, there was a steep climb of giant rock unlike any fort which have rock stairs.

We kept climbing past splendid gates though broken and torn but still able to convey the tales of their majestic time.

STAIRS TO THE FORT

ABANDONED CANNON ON ROOF TOP

Well i had been to many forts in my life time i.e. Red fort,Orchha fort,Jhansi fort,Bundi fort,Golconda fort and many more  in Bundelkhand region(thanks to my handball national camp held near Khajuraho)not very known for tourist, they all were huge giants in magnitude but this one was quite different. It wasn't that big but spread in little different fashion.Rocks were too steep, and rain water had carved them in perfect round shape and they were setting a completely different landscape. As the time we were climbing weather was too good,a kind i say "Killing weather", thick clouds over our head and cold breeze not letting us feel tired or dehydrated.

FORT IN RUIN

We were giving sufficient time to not miss anything in route or any details.Saw abandoned cannon on roof top of many small built. We climbed on almost all of them and enjoyed vistas around,we could see dense greenery, herd of ships grazing, other mountains in neighbourhood and mesmerising scenery.

WINDOW TO OUTSIDE WORLD

JUST ONE VIEW

MAJESTIC PILLARS

We resumed our climb and finally reached on top where found the ruins of once remain gigantic fort.Wide pillars and various art on walls, claustrophobic stairs designed in perfect 90 degree angle, cannon lying on roof top tells story of there time.Gust of wind smashing the walls violently on that height but walls of that fort fighting bravely like their ruler did. There was a complete silence only sound that can be heard is sound of wind.As i was looking around,my mind was thinking more and more about how and what changed this beautiful giant into remains of rocks and many more questions will remain unanswered forever.

ARTS ON WALL

VIEW OF THE LAND FROM FORT
FAREWELL TIME

With heavy heart we started descending...........and then drive back for Hyderabad.......then suddenly we saw the construction going on ORR and seeing my curious face my partner said "hey we should visit Bhongir fort more frequently once this road gets complete, probably then we can trust technology completely without loosing our trail" and with laughter we headed back to sweet home................
